What's on in the Bay?

25 September 2009.

Surf Fest 09. This year's Surfest movie evening is looking like being even better than the last. The laughs, the talent, and the good company may make it one of the best evenings out this year. 7:30, The Pines, Houghton Bay, just to the right a bit from Lyall Bay. see details here.

28 August 2009.

Lyall Bay has a beach clean up day on the first Sunday of every month. Starting with a coffee from the Wild Style Surf shop to energise, invigorate, stimulate and enthusiate (is that even a word?) ready for the clean up. The team can be easily reconised by their red t-shirts kindly sponsered by Commonsense Organics and the smiles on their faces. All help is much appreciated. Information from CityLife 26 August and contact for the cleanup is letiabrown@gobrokers.co.nz

1 August 2009.

Sadly there has been a fire at Maranui Surf Lifesaving Club and Cafe. Our hearts go out to Matt, Katie, Bronwyn, and all the staff for the loss of all their work and efforts in creating a fun place for all of us. For more details and updates on the re-build see details here.

27 May 2009.

The weather has been REALLY horrible. Your best bet for a good time at the bay is to go to Maranui and enjoy a Big Bay Breakfast and coffee. Next best good idea is to borrow a dog and enjoy the puppy mayhem on the eastern end of the beach. If that still doesn't work - hire a surboard from Real Surf and get out there.

Thundercats racing on ... Some time in January.

They were doing practice races 15 November 2008 so we can expect a bit more action before the big race.

Thundercats look like overpowered inflatable rescue boats, so it's bound to be fun...  Exact date to be advised.
